Dihydroxybenzenes (Catechol, Resorcinol, Hydroquinone) Market Production and Revenue Analysis Report 2022
Dihydroxybenzenes, also known as benzenediols, exist
as chemical mixtures which are organic in nature. In these chemical compounds,
two hydroxyl groups are replaced on top of a ring of benzene. These aromatic
compounds are classified as phenols. Three isomers of dihydroxybenzenes exist.
First one is 1, 3-benzenediol which is the meta isomer, also usually called
resorcinol. The second one is 1, 2-benzenediol which is the ortho isomer, also
usually called catechol. And the third one is 1, 4-benzenediol which is the
para isomer, also usually called hydroquinone.
All these three compounds appear as colorless white
granulated solids at room pressure and temperature but these might become dark
when exposed to oxygen. All the three isomers, catechol, resorcinol, and
hydroquinone have the same formula as C6H6O2. Comparable to other phenols,
these hydroxyl groups on the aromatic ring of a benzenediol are faintly acidic.
All of these benzenediols are capable of losing an H+ from anyone amongst the
hydroxyls in order to create a kind of phenolate ion.

It has been identified that the dihydroxybenzene
(DHB) focussed Fenton reaction is more effective for the degradation of
recalcitrant substrates as compared to the simple Fenton reaction. The improved
reactivity of the Fenton reaction driven by dihydroxybenzene is indistinct, but
then again it may possibly be described by the creation of oxidant species not
the same as the ones formed by the shift of the redox potential of the complex
formed by DHB and Fe (III) or by the classical Fenton reaction.
In the aerobic biodegradation by an activated sludge
of all the three isomers of dihydroxybenzene accustomed to consume
p-nitrophenol (PNP), the PNP degrading biomass was capable of overshadowing
every single isomer as the blend of two or three dihydroxybenzene, as well as,
the sole organic source for carbon. Nonetheless, the rates of biodegradation
were considerably diverse for each isomer and were majorly swayed by the
concurrent existence of the other dihydroxybenzenes in ternary or binary forms.
In a broad-spectrum, hydroquinone was the isomer witnessed to be consumed at
the highest speed whereas resorcinol was witnessed to be consumed at the
slowest speed.
The global and China dihydroxybenzenes (Catechol,
Resorcinol, and Hydroquinone) market is manifest with strong competition owing
